Wallpaper has made an incredible resurgence in recent years among interior design firms, thanks in particular to numerous home improvement shows on television. Although wall coverings were always more prevalent in Europe, in the 1970s and 1980s, many people, like the Americans, largely abandoned wallpaper use.
Looking back at some of the beautiful retro designs of wall coverings installed in antique homes there will certainly be people who wish they would never have removed or painted over wallpaper during a renovation.
The new wallpapers, however, are nothing like the old, once-used vinyl or thin paper coverings. They’re now available in previously unheard of fabrics and textures, and wallpaper never looked any better!
Today, the designs in wallpapers are enhanced with embossing, bold patterns, metallics, lifelike images, textured fabrics and, most importantly, are more environmentally friendly than old vinyl wallpaper. It’s also no surprise they’re significantly more expensive with the new, modern wallpapers.
