| Synopsis : | This 6-day intensive program is meant for those interested in developing choreographic skills. While this is more suited to young choreographers and those with a fair amount of dance experience, others who do not match this criteria will be considered based on an individual basis. Workshops Mon 7 - Sat 12 Jul 2008 Full-day residency program The workshop program will include sessions on 'Music for Dance' by Saidah Rastam, Lighting by Tan Eng Heng and 'Introduction to Anatomy and Dance Injuries' by Dr. Dhanya Thurairajah and other respected practitioners in contemporary dance such as Vincent Tan, Umesh Shetty, Wong Kit Yaw and Anuar Abd Wahab to provide a comprehensive insight into choreography. Performances Fri 11 - Sat 12 Jul 2008 (8pm) Open to the public, performances include site specific contemporary choreography 11:59p.m. by James Kan in the corridors of the library building and a silat-based Selendang Merah by Sharip Zainal at the Anjung Beringin. Other works will be staged in the Experimental Theatre ASWARA featuring among others, choreographers such as Rosalina Ooi of City Ballet, Ipoh, Steve Goh, Akmal Ayob and Shariful Azmi. Part of KL Fest 2008 and jointly supported by Nyoba Kan, Selangor & KL Kwangtung Association and the Temple of Fine Arts Kuala Lumpur. |
