Synopsis : In this solo performance by Loi Chin Yu, he will appear as a dancer walking an individual path, solving his own mystery, mending his own chaos – basically conducting his very own ceremonial act.

The movements in this dance drama are derived from imagery of Taoist ceremonial acts – speaking in tongues, chanting, ceremonial scriptures and such.

Symbolic of a new beginning, Chin Yu believes that Truth and Love can only emerge when the heart is settled.

~
This marks Chin Yu's return to the stage after a five year absence.

In a nutshell, Loi Chin Yu is a dancer, fine arts graduate and designer of stage sets and domestic furniture. He acquired his dance training from the Kwangsi Association (Malaysia), one of the pioneering members of Nyoba Dance.

His dance credits include The Tree, Lady White Snake - The revenge, When Durian meet Banana, Red Banquet, Four Men One Face, and SeeSaw, amongst others. He has also appeared in several independent films including Man From Thailand and Survival.

Chin Yu has also been involved in many huge musical productions including Puteri Guning Ledang, P. Ramlee – The Musical, September Tales (Dama Orchestra), and Little Mission Impossible.

Awarded a BOH Cameronian Arts Award for Best Set Design for Leave Me Along (Dua Space) in 2004, he was again nominated for a Cammie in 2005, and an ADA Drama Award for Best Set Design for Three Children.

A KLPac and Five E Creation Production.

Suggestions:

Platform was limiting your movements and space... impact on audience would be stronger and bigger if it is done on the flat ground in the theatre.

Most of the time, your back is facing the audience. I don't know much about Taoist ritual ceremony, but facing your back towards the audience just shuts off your energy one at the time...

Sometimes, there moments on your face showing that you're acting and not really being in the moment.. but that's okay..

Beautiful! For me, that's the word that would best describe the whole concept of the show. Great lights too! Good job technicians!

To most of us, we might not be able to understand the movement choices you made. Why and what driven you to execute certain physical shift. Again, how many people know about the Taoist ceremonial act? I bet not many...

Because it's a one man show, I must say on behalf of most audiences that, it was not perfect. But for me, because it is not perfect, that makes it a fantastic show... :)

Good job Chin Yu! Stay a believer, keep performing.. you have a brilliant future!
