| Synopsis : | The exhibition features more than 40 artworks of batik in a collection that records Batik Malaysia’s transformation from the early 20th century to what it is today - a national cultural identity. The exhibition focuses on the six areas of batik development, namely Batik Sarong of the 1930s -1950s, Batik Yardage – of the 1960s, New Batik Trends of the 1970s and 1980s, Wearable Batik Art of the 1990s, and Batik for Special Events and Batik Art. Curated by Galeri Petronas's guest curator YM Raja Fuziah Raja Tun Uda, President of National Crafts Council of Malaysia. A touring exhibition presented by Galeri Petronas. |
