Synopsis : The Boy Who Loved Clouds is a series of 40 contemporary paintings accomplished in a preset time frame of 30 consecutive days in August 2006.

The paintings were painted on 12” x 12” canvases, subconsciously translated an impromptu, unplanned story through his vigilant imaginations to a sequence of tale-telling acrylic pictures describing moments during his discovery of spirituality and overcoming the obsession of life.

Daily developments were then updated daily on a blog co-created by Chin Yew himself, known as the 30dayartist.

In addition to the entire collection of The Boy Who Loved Clouds paintings, the exhibition will also feature some of his earlier works from his first attempt at 30dayartist in August 2005, which comprise of gigantic 72” x 72” black, white and red paintings inspired by crying boys, fat angels and dramatic faces.

Born 1981, Chin Yew found his connection with art since at a very young age. The director-in-making art enthusiast will grab his tools and start sketching whatever comes in his mind.

Since graduating from the University of Lim Kok Wing, and when not doing art annually in August at 30dayartist.com, Chin Yew directs, writes and edits for local TV shows, plays in his noisy avant-garde band Airtight Noise, and designs for his t-shirt label, Gamma Clothing.

His final, ultimate dream is to direct a 35mm full length film.

The opening reception for this exhibition will take place on Sat 9 Aug 2008, at 4pm.
